In order to contribute the reconstruction of regions devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake, our university has established the Waseda University Center for Research on Reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake (Supervised by Professor Yoshiaki Fukazawa, Senior Executive Director for Research Promotion). The mid- to long-term research projects conducted at the center will make full use of the academic resources in our university as an intellectual community, encompassing three research projects and seven research themes.

-
Waseda University called upon our university's researchers to submit research proposals that will contribute to reconstruction of areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and will minimize potential damage which may be caused by similar future disasters. After the screening, seven research themes were selected for three research projects in the fields of "Medicine and Health Care", "Infrastructure Restoration and Disaster Management Systems", and "Urban Planning and Social Design". The Center for Research on Reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake consists of these projects. Activities of the research center are supported by the Waseda Supporters Club and will also receive a maximum of 20 million yen in annual funding from our university for a period of 3 years.
