I would like to send my best wishes for the New Year.
Last year, the Great East Japan Earthquake, nuclear power plant accidents, and concentrated heavy rain inflicted severe damage on many people in a wide range of areas. I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to all the affected people.
Our school is taking unique supporting measures centering on three pillars: support for the affected students by exempting from tuition and providing scholarship, support for disaster affected areas by dispatching student volunteers, and financial support for the research on disaster reconstruction and disaster prevention.
The Great East Japan Earthquake also urged us to seriously reflect on the ways the science technology and our social system should be. Waseda University intends to make further efforts, based on our achievements of internationalization and expansion of the Theme College System, to present values that correspond to the new age as well as to develop outstanding human resources who will lead the next generation.
I would like to sincerely ask for your continuous guidance and support in the future.
