The Yomiuri Shimbun is inviting readers to select their favorites for 100 Landscapes of Heisei, a project to celebrate the 135th anniversary of The Yomiuri Shimbun.
The project will select 100 landscapes suitable for a new era by helping our readers discover and recognize anew beautiful scenery across the country. It also is aimed at invigorating local communities by publicizing their respective scenic beauty at home and abroad. From Wednesday through Tuesday, except Friday, The Daily Yomiuri will carry a total of 300 candidate photos chosen under the supervision of prominent landscape photographer Toshinobu Takeuchi.
Readers are encouraged to vote for their favorite landscapes from among those selections. Votes can be cast either by mail or online until March 1.
The project is organized by The Yomiuri Shimbun; supported by the Construction and Transport Ministry, the Japan Tourism Agency, the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren) and others; and sponsored by Hokkaido Railway Co., East Japan Railway Co., Central Japan Railway Co., West Japan Railway Co., Shikoku Railway Co., Kyushu Railway Co., Japan Airlines, Japan Tobacco Inc. and others.
