Yomiuri social event held in Tokyo

About 320 people from foreign business and diplomatic circles on Thursday attended The Yomiuri Executive Club, a social event to foster friendly ties between The Yomiuri Shimbun and people active in such circles.

At the event, which was held at a Tokyo hotel, florist Shogo Kariyazaki crafted an orchid arrangement based on the theme "Autumn in Japan."

"The admiration of beautiful flowers lies deep in the Japanese heart," he said.

Guests at the event included representatives of foreign designer-brand companies and embassies.

At a reception afterward, Richard Collasse, president of Chanel K.K. Japan, said he has read The Yomiuri Shimbun at home since he came to Japan 35 years ago, and expected the newspaper to continue thriving.
