YOMIURI ONLINE, an online news site launched by The Yomiuri Shimbun in 1995, displays news updated round the clock.

We have occasionally renewed our Web site. In the latest renewal, which took place in May 2005, we gave special consideration to the improvement of access for individuals with disabilities and elderly people in order to make our Web site friendly to as many people as possible.

Our Web site complies with the Japanese Standards Association's "JISX8341-3 Guidelines for older persons and persons with disabilities--information and communications equipment, software and services." The new Japan Industrial Standards rules were established in June 2004. We did our utmost to make our site suitable for a text-to-speech engine and supply images with alternative text explanations.

As our site has so many pages, some pages are not suitable yet for the latest technological enhancement. We will continue improving the user-friendliness of our site.
